Meet our Staff
Rev. Sarah Hong
Senior Pastor
Pastor Sarah Hong loves swimming, walking, and watching romantic comedies. She is passionate about bringing new people to Jesus Christ and offering fun activities for all ages.
Before coming to Beth Eden, Pastor Sarah served churches in Minooka, New Lenox, and Dixon (IL) and in Atlanta, GA and New York City. She was ordained in the Northern Illinois Conference in 2010. She has been on more than 25 mission trips around North America, including four in Yucatan, Mexico.
Pastor Sarah is married to Pastor Caleb of Christ UMC (Rockford). They have two young adult daughters, Lydia and Abigail.
Pastor Sarah received a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton, NJ).
Pamela True
Secretary
Pamela True started as Beth Eden UMC’s Secretary in 2020. Pamela was born and raised here in Rockford, and has a 17-year-old son named Hunter. Pamela is a Cubs and Blackhawks fan, and also loves to read.
Barbara Fisher-Livingston
Music Director
Barbara was born in Ohio and grew up in Union City, Indiana. She attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and moved to Rockford in 1973 where she served as Music Director for Harlem UMC. Since 2012, Barb has been the Choir Director/Accompanist at Beth Eden UMC. She loves to sew her own clothes and travel with her husband, Brian.
Ray Covert
Custodian
Ray has been with Beth Eden UMC as a member for over 15 years. He was born in Houston, Texas and moved to Rockford when he was a teenager. Ray is a graduate of Rockford West High School and is a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
